Boys C-team soccer has very promising start to their season as they won their first two games. The boys blew out San Elizario and Socorro High school. The boys beat San Eli by three goals and beat Socorro 8-1. The boys next game is Feb. 9 vs Horizon High School. Many of the boys are anxious to get back onto the field and hopefully continue their winning ways.

“I’m anxious to finally step on the field once again,” freshman Angel Falcon said. Falcon is a player that gets moved between JV and C-team depending on the opponent and has one game of varsity experience as well. Falcon said since C-team plays only once a week, it gives them a lot more time to practice and perfect their mistakes. Falcon also described how its fun to play C-team sometimes because those are where all his middle school friends are, and he is able to create more memories with them.

Most of the players agree that what makes playing soccer even better is that they are playing together. For goalkeeper Miguel Palencia, this is an amazing experience and hopes to learn as much from it as possible.

“Although I’d like to be playing at a higher level, I understand I am the most inexperienced keeper in the program, and I have to start from somewhere,” Palencia said. Palencia said he’ll learn as much as he can and work his hardest until his number is called to go play for the higher teams. All of the players on the C-team agreed their main focus was to get good enough to the point where they would be able to have a starting position on the varsity squad.

“The older guys set the example of how to work, and we have to match it,” Alberto Magallanes said. Magallanes is the main goal scorer for the team and is occasionally pushed up to the JV team. Magallanes said his goal is to work and better to the point where he can play on the varsity squad. Most of the players agree the only way to make varsity is to work harder and continue their winning ways.
