Boys Freshman Soccer Start Out Strong
The freshmen boys won their season opener 3-0 vs Socorro High School Jan. 26. On Feb. 2 the boys the boys will host San Elizario.
“We understand each other very well and hope to continue growing as a team,” Luis Valenzuela said.
Valenzuela is the most vocal person on the field. Valenzuela said he tries to keep the team together and makes sure everyone keeps their head when the times get tough. Playing center midfield, Valenzuela sees the whole field and tries to help his teammates ahead of him.
Valenzuela said he enjoys this team and can’t wait for what the future holds.
“This team is strong. We have a bright future in my eyes,” Saul Pacheco said.
Pacheco explained how hard the team works and how much they crave to improve. Pacheco said he’s never seen a group of kids work as hard as his teammates do. Pacheco said his teammates push him to his highest potential. Pacheco described how the team has changed the way he is. Many of the players agree the team has come close together such as a family.
Many other players agree with the positive affect the soccer program has.
“High school has changed me,” Javier Rivero said. Rivero said he used to be all over the place and a complete mess but playing for coach (Sergio) Delgado has really helped straighten him out. Rivero explained how he hoped to play for coach Delgado his full four years since the coach has really helped him become the person he is today.
